A true fashion-forward femme draws her style from many different sources. Art, architecture and even popular media like music or movies can all add to a girl's style inspirations. Got a penchant for pop culture icons? Try incorporating a little Audrey Hepburn into your image. Her appearance in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" has launched many a look, especially in hairstyling. Worried about your waves? No problem -- the sleek updo Miss Hepburn sports in the film is chic enough for any outfit and versatile enough for many hair types.
1.
Heat up some large hot rollers. While you're waiting, part your bangs away from the rest of your hair. You can still do this style if you don't have bangs, but it won't look exactly like Miss Hepburn's.
2.
Wind up 1- to 2-inch-wide sections of hair onto your rollers. Leave the rollers in until they cool, and then carefully take them out. Your waves will have smoothed out without losing volume, which is essential for this updo.
3.
Indulge in a little backcombing to add even more volume. Hold your hair at the crown and tease the underside, so that the topside remains smooth while the bottom gives you some height.
4.
Sweep your hair up into a ponytail, and secure it with a hair band. If your hair is long, make the ponytail low. If your hair is short, go for a high ponytail.
5.
Twist the low ponytail, and direct the twist up against the back of your head like a French twist. Pin the twist to your hair, but leave the ends loose over the top of your head. Skip this step if you made a high ponytail.
6.
Fan the loose hair out around at the crown of your head. Tease the ends, then tuck and pin them all around the crown to create that "pouf" look Audrey Hepburn's character is known for.
7.
Part your bangs on the side. If you have long bangs, pin them back on the sides, into the updo.
8.
Coat the entire updo with a generous amount of hairspray.
